Well, the universe would have other ideas, because those were frequently the sticks I drew to work together. They laughed, I rolled my eyes and let it go. The promised it would work well, and it usually did...usually. We had fun.

I knew who didn't know, also, but I wanted them to stretch their thinking. I'd give them one "pass", but the next time around, they'd have to contribute something. While I do agree that it's a good way to keep kids on their toes, I prefer to have data and call on kids based on what I know they need help on. I make notes about what Q's to ask whom.

I love your post about the etch-a-sketch! Students should be held accountable for what they have been taught. I'm your newest follower. BTW, I could never draw like that either. I mostly did the maze drawings and got irritated when I couldn't trace back over the lines I'd drawn. :)Pamela Kranzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01357966919964673584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764665287417319511.post-68777550804369524152013-02-03T20:12:34.346-07:002013-02-03T20:12:34.346-07:00I loved my Etch a Sketch - must see if I can find ...I loved my Etch a Sketch - must see if I can find one again!! I never managed to do a drawing like that one on your post though! Last year, after a long (and extremely interesting) experiment on how our brains worked best, my battle cry was "Grow branches - connect those neurons". One of my kids told our head that one day when she walked in on a lesson. When she asked what they were doing the child said, "We're growing branches!" I thought it was hysterical.
LynnAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16517788517530920899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764665287417319511.post-60441853782743607422013-02-03T15:41:56.286-07:002013-02-03T15:41:56.286-07:00You must be a visual learner.
