Hopefully, it will stay active from week to week. There's an email signup in the upper right corner of the page, along with several other opportunities to follow them. I love SG-1, also- especially when they had to "MacGyver" something and he'd get that funny look on his face. :) I'm a firm believer that kids learn best when they're having fun and emulating real life.

Thanks for following! More to come. :)
PamPamela Kranzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01357966919964673584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764665287417319511.post-7972689044500621172013-04-11T07:43:27.937-06:002013-04-11T07:43:27.937-06:00Thanks Darlene. :) I think my underlying motivati...Thanks Darlene. :) I think my underlying motivation is, let's have fun while we're learning! It was getting harder and harder to do fun things with kids, until after testing, so I feel your pain- I don't thrive under someone telling me what to do.

Because of new science standards (which I think will be good) and my former district's willingness to jump on the bandwagon without planning, they've essentially pulled the rug out from under the existing science curriculum and given teachers no support other than to "do this and pretty much figure out how on your own". I, personally, love that kind of challenge, but there are many new teachers that don't know where to start. I'll just keep throwing ideas out there into "deep space" and hopefully, some will be able to take root somewhere. :)Pamela Kranzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01357966919964673584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764665287417319511.post-80193627322528790592013-04-11T07:16:28.794-06:002013-04-11T07:16:28.794-06:00Oh, my!! Your students were so darn lucky; this sounds like so much fun! I usually do a spring unit on sci. fi. turning to sci. fact, which was so much fun for students. But our curriculum is pretty much dictated to us now, so I don't think I can fit it in this year. I am going to sign up for NASA's newsletter though. Thank you!
DarleneAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09932758384674006558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764665287417319511.post-36210619706070767152013-04-07T15:46:16.252-06:002013-04-07T15:46:16.252-06:00It was definitely fun. The looks on their faces when their astronauts spacesuit popped was priceless!

Don't know whether or not you checked out Space Day, but it's the first week in May, Friday, I think. That would be a good time. I've never heard of The Green Book. I'll have to check it out. :) PamPamela Kranzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01357966919964673584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764665287417319511.post-19162325795678954422013-04-07T15:39:59.384-06:002013-04-07T15:39:59.384-06:00Oh this is cool!! I wish we did Space (unfortunately it's a grade 2 theme!) but we DO read a sci fi book about relocating to a new planet (The Green Book) this term. Maybe I can work some of this in :)

LynnAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16517788517530920899noreply@blogger.com
